What is Central Oregon Homelessness Alliance (COHA)?
Mission Statement – We provide education to the community, advocacy and support for our homeless neighbors and support to agencies that serve them by strengthening community partnerships and providing a trusted clearinghouse for information and collaborative action.
Education
COHA sponsors an annual Forum on homelessness that focuses on different issues of homelessness. The website offers general information about homelessness as well as information regarding specific events or issues within the Central Oregon communities.
Advocacy and Support
COHA maintain awareness and understanding of challenges facing our homeless neighbors and what efforts are being made to mitigate these challenges. When appropriate, we will support actions that are in the best interest of the homeless community and the wider Central Oregon community.
Support Agencies
The annual Forum brings agencies together to help the larger community to be aware of their work. The COHART program within CHOA offers assistance in meeting the needs of their clients when the agency is unable to fully meet the need.
Strengthening community partnerships
Churches, community organizations and individuals are encouraged to be available to assist people who are homeless or recently rehoused with funds and/or services through the COHART program. COHA supports agency fund raising or educational effort on the COHA website.
Clearinghouse for information and collaborative action.
The Homelessness Forum, website, advocacy participation and COHART all contribute to this aspect of our mission.
